Very interesting post.

When I was in N.D. a number of years ago this woman I was visiting had made about 5 beautiful baskets and had her daughter go put them on doorsteps of friends. I'd never heard of that before and thought it would be neat to look out the door and find a basket full of flowers and goodies.

I came across your name today via a post of Marta's. Hope you are doing well.

Hugs, KathleenAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09871715455123788528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937578189437367147.post-2820695136892820912014-05-17T12:11:10.054-07:002014-05-17T12:11:10.054-07:00Thanks, Patricia, for your comments. It's nice to add things to my brain. I remember in Catholic school having a May day celebration to honor Mary. Some lucky kid was given the honor of placing a wreath of azaleas around her head. That was fun.
Here in Europe, May Day is still a holiday. Especially in Germany, where there is a strong union binding, this day is a day the unions celebrate.
Thank you for the information. Some of it, I did not know.

Shalom,
PatriciaPat Garciahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04204650731843984192noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937578189437367147.post-45695184420676603162014-05-12T12:25:04.632-07:002014-05-12T12:25:04.632-07:00Hi Cherrye,

Perhaps the two should merge.

MickiAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09069841490275569409noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937578189437367147.post-54599507846978274912014-05-12T12:21:37.297-07:002014-05-12T12:21:37.297-07:00Thanks, Raani, I'm glad you enjoyed it.MickiThanks, Raani, I'm glad you enjoyed it.MickiAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09069841490275569409noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937578189437367147.post-68979557121927390622014-05-11T18:52:55.952-07:002014-05-11T18:52:55.952-07:00Oh my goodness, Micki. When it was my turn, she made me a black skirt with white rickrack trimmed around the bottom. We also wore white shirts. The teachers loved my outfit because it was so different. You don't see this tradition anymore. I love reading your articles because you write about history and I'm learning lots.Cherrye S.
