This story is seeming less funny to me while we clean up after our evicted tenants whose three dogs( not allowed in lease)peed all though my large 3 bedroom home and chewed up two rugs and half a kitchen. I'll remember this when I get tempted to get another aninal.

Hugs, MickiMicki Peluso is the author of "And the Whippoorwill Sang"https://www.blogger.com/profile/14286402859989726344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937578189437367147.post-1278905985700707162012-04-21T19:49:15.311-07:002012-04-21T19:49:15.311-07:00I loved it, Micki! Lots of fun. The males weren't fixed and peed all over their house. I'm glad it was their house and not mine. But I still had to clean up. So I know what you went through. The difference was that I could leave them behind when I came home. They're all dead, now, so no more dog sitting. I did look after a golden retriever/collie mix who thought she could actually sit in my lap. about 1/4 of her made it with her paws and head on my shoulder and her back feet somewhere in the middle of the living room. But ya gotta love 'em.Diane Stephensonhttp://diane-stephenson.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937578189437367147.post-6818258849900785142012-04-21T18:39:07.672-07:002012-04-21T18:39:07.672-07:00Valerie,

I just had my huge hairy grand dog here for the week--the one that may have given me Lyme disease. I love the slobbery old guy and he is one of the sweetest and most obedient dogs in the world. I'm sure he didn't mean it when he growled and went for his friend, Toby, my cat, when he thought the cat was annoying me--the bruise on my foot where he stomped on it will fade in a week or two :).Hopefully the cat won't die from stealing Rocky's thyroid pill hidden in a doggie treat.Micki Peluso is the author of "And the Whippoorwill Sang"https://www.blogger.com/profile/14286402859989726344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937578189437367147.post-12424720156047761442012-04-15T13:31:10.205-07:002012-04-15T13:31:10.205-07:00What a riot! He lived to be 12 years old and died of a muscle wasting disease but died in his home since he was not in pain.

I wrote a eulogy for him that I'll post here soon, but wanted to make you laugh first.

All my best!

MickiMicki Peluso is the author of "And the Whippoorwill Sang"https://www.blogger.com/profile/14286402859989726344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937578189437367147.post-73998309758802150262012-04-10T11:15:59.969-07:002012-04-10T11:15:59.969-07:00What a hoot! I related mostly to the houseplants, but from the standpoint of cats, rather than a dog. Ours was a corn plant that (believe it or not) is still part of the family (since 1984). It has been knocked down, scratched upon, peed on, crapped on and about anything else you can think of that a cat could do. It traveled in the back of an old pickup truck over a hundred miles to its first home and then 25 years later over two hundred miles to another home in a another state. Needless to say, with four kids we did not survive life without the dogs (two, actually) with stories of their own. Of course, now you realize there must be a sequel:) You know this story does not end here. . .it is only the beginning!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937578189437367147.post-24733921789383475922012-04-10T09:19:22.618-07:002012-04-10T09:19:22.618-07:00I am so with you, Micki! So now we have a new puppy (an Aussie) who is a whirling dervish. She's 3-1/2 months old now and is going to puppy obedience classes and puppy (BIG puppy) playtime. She turned out to be the only one who shows up for her obedience classes (and, no, the other puppies hadn't heard about her) and during her puppy playtime at Petco, she spends her time racing around the room leaping over all the other dogs until everyone is dizzy from watching her. Our shepherd Vega loves her (I guess he figures she's his "entertainment" for his senior years) and now she's got him slopping his feet around in their water dish the way she does. Who says that "old dogs can't learn new tricks" anyway? Love your blog and, of course, I'll be back!Sandra McLeod Humphreyhttp://www.kidscandoit.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937578189437367147.post-73495482763875595412012-04-10T08:51:17.700-07:002012-04-10T08:51:17.700-07:00I am still cracking up!! I get my fix from my 3 granddogs and just love having them, but after rescuing torn up plants, filling in huge craters left in the yard, and cleaning up all the hair from the one who is terrified of the occasional rain drop (yes, we have one of those also!), I am also glad to send them home, and look forward to the next visit!Marilynnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937578189437367147.post-48682273234473110182012-04-10T08:21:21.130-07:002012-04-10T08:21:21.130-07:00Oh, Micki! This is one of the most delightfully delicious reads I've had since I read AND THE WHIPPORWILL SANG! Truly, my friend, your ability to express in words is a gift. I swear...it felt as if I sitting across from you, listening to you share in an exasperated tone even as an undertone of love tempered the exasperation. You are a gift, Micki, and I daily send you grateful thoughts and pray for your body to hang in there.
