Sienna Alexander is a victim of an abusive relationship with Rob Lucas, leaving her with night terrors of his attempt to kill her. Rob’s beating and animalistic burst of killer rage leaves Sienna barely alive. He’s dead now, but the emotional scars run far deeper than the physical as she shuts herself off from all men and throws herself into her work. But each night he penetrates her dreams. Each night she awakes drenched in fear and dread.

Michael Chessler, a 30 year old architect, is wheelchair bound with an upbeat, optimistic attitude despite having to give up so many things that he did physically before his injuries. His legs may not work, but he’s a muscular hunk of a man with everything else working just fine. Meeting Sienna, as she drops half her groceries into his lap, Michael is drawn to her sensual beauty, despite her reserved sometimes sarcastic mouth. Unused to a handsome, genuine man, Sienna is unsure what to make of him. He’s the complete opposite of her tormentor and she finds herself dreaming of him as well, often intertwining the two of them in bizarre, erotically sensual dreams, which are half terror and half lovemaking. Sienna feels like she’s losing her mind.

Michael, a dark, gorgeous man with thick lashes shading bedroom eyes and longish brown hair, lingers in Sienna’s mind during the day, even as Rob continues to torture her in her dreams at night. Michael is feeling incompetent as a man, certain that the beautiful, long legged, blond, albeit clumsy Sienna, would never consider a man trapped in a wheelchair. He, too, dreams at night, ravishing her with love as a whole man with full use of his body.

Author, January Valentine, writes chilling, sadistic love scenes as well as romantic desire, bordering upon but not reaching pure erotica. This is a book that will keep you up all night and perhaps compel you to initiate a romantic interlude with your own significant other. The unexpected ending sneaks up upon readers as the story reaches a tumultuous climax. This is a beautiful love story that will linger a while after the story ends for readers, but begins for its characters. Readers loving this story will want to check out other works by Valentine, including, “Sweet Dreams”.

  2. Great review, Micki. You told enough to intrigue me without giving away too much. This sounds like a book I'd enjoy.

  3. What a great review! This is written as I would expect you writing them and as the others you did write: intriguing but still objective, interesting and in particular tickling the need of reading more of the story!!
